WeeK 'SiX SuX'

Skip this post if you don't want to read my bragging...

Okay, I'm sorry for the blog title but yes, I have to latch out my anger here and seriously, my week six is really in a bad shape! 'Week Six Sux' was officially given by Jasmine and I after both of us went through a tough Monday for Week 6, the week after our free week. Sigh sigh~ wonder why?

Things were fine in the morning when Jasmine picked me up for campus for our final proficiency test practice. Reaching campus, we did our first practice and I just don't get how dumb some particular Mass Communication students can be - nama saja 'senior' but don't know how to handle equipments! Can obviously see that those who came for a lot of practices are way responsible than those who are never seen in practices...
1. don't know how to 'gulung' wires
2. don't know how to 'gulung' back the microphone into the box
3. don't know how to lock the tripod
Well, I just don't understand that part but anyway, as long as I pass my proficiency test and pass this semester, I rather not care so much about these sort of people.

Later was the issue of 'Not allow to use our own computer to edit our projects'. Hmm...I wonder why we are not allow??? I mean, we only have 4 MAC labs to use and imagine 20 groups are fighting for 4 labs! How the hell are we going to do our production edits in time?! Isn't it the same thing if we edit with our own MAC and transfer to the lab's MAC to export it to the tape and later to AVI format? I just don't understand...

Thought all ends by lunch, but mana tau, Stephanie called and said, 'Bad news! Our talent is away from Miri for a month from this Thursday onwards!!!' I was like 'WHAT???!' I mean...since when? Hello, we had a deal that our talent will be free in April but out of the blue, she is going away!!! It was like a 'rock falling down from the sky and hit you in the head!'
Option 1: All four will fly to Limbang through the weekend to cover the shoot which will cost RM1000
Option 2: We fly our talent from Limbang to Miri for the weekend for the shoot which will cost RM500 at least.
Option 3: Change subject.

Our class extended until almost 6pm! OMG! Was supposed to finish at 4pm but because of the whole list of MTV from lecturer to view...GERAM!!! TIRED!!!

Okay, okay, I'll end this post...I bragged enough already...
We're all praying that everything will turn out well...

Easter 2008

Finally, I get to celebrate Easter after 3 years of NOT celebrating when I was in KL. Got to attend Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Mass (which I have not been doing for the past 3 years...under some circumstances).

And, I got my own Easter Egg too!!!
...from Catherine...
...and...

...our very own Easter Egg...

I had a great Easter this year and hoping for a great Easter in the years to come.
p/s - this post is a week late

A day out before going back to STUDY

Free week is almost over and guess what most of us did throughout our 'FREE WEEK'??? ... Assignments, revisions, practices... it ain't a free week at all!!! So, after deciding that we should take a break, at least a day break from our work, Catherine, Elizabeth, Jasmine, Yuki, Cammy and I had our day out in Miri (it doesn't sound as fascinating because it is still in Miri) sigh~

Elizabeth had brought Jasmine, Yuki and Cammy to Baram before meeting Catherine and I for breakfast. We started our morning with FOOD at 2020 (a request from Jasmine) with Laksa, Kolo Mee and Dim Sum.

...our 'act cute' step 1 to 6...

Now, will let the pictures tell the story...
Next stop, Marina Bay.

...Cath, Kay, Cam, Jas, Yuki (Elizabeth on camera)...

After Marina Bay, we went to Tanjung, but sadly, the tide was very high and there were so little of the beach to go to and the next thing we knew, it rained...

...see how 'syok sendiri' we all are...

LUNCH!
Had a drink and at the same time ordered Fried Rice, Fried Mee and Fried Sotong for lunch.

...our 'act cute' step 1 to 6 No.2...

...being cool with Jasmine's shades...

After lunch, we headed home for rest and party was at 8pm at The Island with Adrienne. Ordered a couple of drinks and chit-chat until 11.30pm. Island was a nice chill out place especially when they play nice songs...

...us and Adrienne (Cath on camera)...

Well, at least we had an exciting, cam-whoring day before we go back to our studies...
HAPPY BACK TO STUDY EVERYONE!!!

Graduation!

YES!
Finally we are having our Diploma graduation after a year of waiting for news!!!

The letter just arrived in Kuching yesterday and my dad broke the news to me and I was so happy to hear about it...but later was quite frustrated because I won't be attending the graduation ceremony due to several reasons. *sob sob* ... *cry cry*

Was hoping to meet my college friends after not seeing anyone of them for so long and we didn't have a proper farewell because I left in a sudden.

Anyway, for those who are attending the graduation ceremony next Sunday, 6th April, you guys have fun and take many many photos and post it up so at least I can see them! :)

CONGRATULATIONS TO MIIM GRADUATES OF BATCH 05/2004!!!

A long day in Miri~

Okay, it's my second post on Miri... *hmph* Anyway, it's the beginning of my study free week for this semester and this time, I have decided that I cannot go back Kuching because I have tons of assignments due and exams and quizes the week after that.

It's Saturday and I woke up at 8am and got ready 45 minutes later and headed out for breakfast at 2020 with Catherine. Plan was to go to Miri Library to get some books as well as get information for my research paper for MCI 101. Breakfast was Laksa~! *yum yum* Drove to the library to only find out that it opens at 11am... So we took a ride to the old Miri Library and to my surprise, it opens at 8am! After a look in the library, we went to Bintang Plaza and decided to watch a movie...

10,000 BC directed by Ronald Emmerich is a prehistoric epic that follows a young mammoth hunter's journey through uncharted territory to secure the future of his tribe. It is a 109 minutes movie which was overall a great one and a similar one to a movie I watched last year (I can't remember the title). The funny thing about the movie was... no.1, the digi advertisement with the yellow duck in it. no.2, one of the character's name in 10,000BC was Ka'ren. sigh~ Well, Catherine made fun of both this 'co-incidental' visuals we saw in the cinema...

After movie was a trip to the library again and after that was back home. At about 5.30pm, we headed down to Taman Bulatan and had a jog there before heading to Pasar Malam to grab dinner...

...A good way to start off the 'not free week' study free week holiday...

Miri~

It's officially 8 months I resided in Miri and I find Miri rather similar to Kuching, except for the limited shopping centers and entertainment, but beautiful, sandy beaches just 10 minutes from my place of stay. Miri is all about exploration. There are many extraordinary places in Miri which are yet to be discovered. Awaiting to discover more interesting places to share and to remember in the future...

*Miri is known for the seahorses and petroleum*

In the midst of production...In class!

This semester's unit requires production work in class and also outside of class. Of course, before we get to bring the equipments outside of class for our major assignment, we must practice in class, during our workshop. Two different units namely FTV 233 (Advertisement and Music Video) and FTV 222 (Documentary Workshop) require us to operate two different cameras and both are as cool as it is! In the midst of in-class production, this is what we do...

...camera and audio exercise (doing 6 different audio interview)...

...proficiency test practice (lighting and camera setup and shoot in 10 minutes & pack in 5 minutes)...

...editing with Final Cut Pro and audio with Soundtrack and Garageband...

And of course, in between all these in-class production work comes SYOK SENDIRI!!!

First Commercial Pitch - Done!

My first ever commercial pitch (even though it's just a class assignment, but commercials aren't something that is easy to do...need lots of creativity) is DONE! Buahahahaha~ Been waiting for today to come for 4 weeks now and it's finally over, with me, pitching an advertisement for Sundrop (a non-carbonated drink brand) and comments weren't on my side but, anyway, it's over and I'm glad that I learn to improve my ideas from there... Right now, waiting for the results to whose commercial to do for our next assignment (produce the selected commercial) and that's where the fun comes in~!

Counting down the days for Study Free Week (which will not be free for me and I presume, most Curtin students)...

Counting down the days for me to send my HP Compaq nx9010 back to Kuching and getting my MacBookPro...

Counting down the days for relaxation (hopefully there is a free slot in my organizer for me to have a day to sleeeeeeeeeep the whole day through)

Counting down the days...umm... gotta stop counting down the days now!

...this is how my mental and physical state are at the moment...

Foundation Orientation Sem 1, 2008

I was one of the volunteers for the Foundation Orientation for semester 1, 2008. It was my first time volunteering as a CV! and it was a great week though. It wasn't a good orientation for me last semester but I enjoyed every bit of this semester's...probably because I'm not the participant and probably because I get to take every single frame of pictures of the SOARs and the new students!

Day 1, everyone had to be very formal, and I mean everyone... It was my first day of work as a photographer and by the end of the day, I had two cuts on my feet because of the heels I wore for the whole day. It was hurting pretty bad but all worth for the day's job :)

...taking time off eating Big Apple donuts...

...Iqbal's favourite pose...

...Asfan and me (in the process of making my tie)...

Day 2 and 3, I was in and out of the LT foyer because I had classes the whole day...was more like a chipsmore (now you see me, now you don't)

...white - SOAR, black - CV...

Day 4, I was also in and out of the orientation...took lots of photos but I went home before the club presentation, so I didn't get to see the clubs presenting...sigh~~

...fair fair, meow meow, kuek kuek...

...umm, i am the rose among the torns...

Day 5, Student Council's presentation and CV! as well. It was a bit suprising to see how active and enthusiast the new students were throughout the whole week of orientation. They seemed to be enjoying every bit of the week. How I wish mine was like this one here...the night event was COOL! The new students came up with performances but I didn't bring my camera along, so no pictures from me...ARGH!~

One thing for sure, SOARs and CVs just love cam-whoring. So many syok sendiri photos!

Had to stop what I like to do...

After like almost 10 years, I got to go for my Taekwondo lesson, and today, I had to stop going for practices...sigh~ *sob sob* why?

Currently medically unfit for the practices and even if I were to continue my practices after a week or two later, I won't be in time for the grading this April. NO!!! It took me a while to get myself enrolled in Taekwondo and now, it also took me a while to get my sentence structured to tell my Master that I have to stop Taekwondo from now onwards due to medical circumstances... worst part of all is that I burnt RM40 just for one practice and now, I am not to go for any practices until I get physically well. sigh~ sigh~

Another 'halangan' to stop me from doing Taekwondo...

Something to remember for the rest of my life...

Nothing dramatic about this post, but, I decided to post this up to remind myself for the rest of my life on something that happened to me since last week...

Started with muscular pain on my shoulder after I carried a big metal camera box which is very heavy and later after Taekwondo, the pain was gone. Soon after, my feet started to hurt badly. To me, it was just a normal muscular pain which I normally would have it after exercises. Saturday was quite a long day for me; driving my team-mates to Bintang to get our talent and location secured and later to KRP for O-Nite as a photographer. My leg was aching pretty badly since that night. Much to my surprise, I had two big bruises on my left knee and I had no idea of having the bruises. After getting home from the airport, my leg hurts so badly that it was hard for me to walk. The pain rose to my waist and later to my shoulder which affected my arms and finally to my neck. It made me nauseous and dizzy. Was supposed to see a doctor but had to rush to Tanjung for CSS Sunday Day Out picnic. While waiting for the others to arrive, I finally gave up waiting and Cath drove to Miri City Medical Center (MCMC) as all clinics were closed on Sunday afternoon. Got a quick checkup and was told to come back a day or two later if the pain are still there. Monday, the pain got worse at some parts and I had to skip class, stayed at home and slept all the way through. I had no appetite to eat and would just want to stay in bed the whole day. Cath brought me back to MCMC and Dr. Lee refered me to Dr. Goh, a physician and told me to come back on Tuesday morning for blood test, and so I did, early this morning. Got my blood and waited for 2 hours for the results and...tada~~~

...red highlighted means it is more than the normal reading...

OMG!!! my heart screamed out when Dr. Goh showed me the results. 10 times the normal reading! (Normal = 170)...and mine was 1707! sigh~ it shocked me for a while there. The doctor gave me a week of medication and was told to come back for another blood test next week to monitor the readings...

This time, I will be very obedient and finish up all the medications given and go back again next week for another test and pray that everything will be back to normal...

Family Away From Home

...SOARs and CVs for Orientation Sem 1, 2008...

Election 2008

The 2008 election was one of the biggest news in local television and newspaper as 5 states lost to the oppositions. Kelantan, Penang, Kedah, Selangor and Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur is now under the governance of the opposition. This is news!!!

I was never fond of getting news about election but the 2008 election was like a bomb to most of us because the results were shocking. Election Day was on the 8th March 2008 and cars with BN or DAP flags could be seen on the road in Miri. I was excited myself to vote but I was not in time to register and was not in Kuching during the election. sigh~ will have to wait for another 5 years before casting my vote...

News were broadcast all over television that night and the day after with headlines such as 'Step down, Dr. M tells Abdullah', 'Three menteri besar from PAS, one each from DAP and PKR',...and lots more. Things change drastically since the election.

See what's more to come!

I am in TAEKWONDO!

Finally after many years, I finally enrolled myself in Taekwondo!
It was tougher than I thought. Maybe I am lack of exercise but it was a full body workout for me yesterday in my first class. I am still uniform-less because the uniform is out of stock so I wore tracks. Warming up was easy with jogging and normal exercise but when it comes to splitting, OUCH! I can't! The Master actually pushed both my legs down to the floor and it was hurting badly... sigh~

I was taught one-to-one by a black belt guy because I was the only new student there. I wasn't hard to learn punches but when it comes to kicking...susahlah~ After about an hour, I stopped practicing and waited for the yellow belts to finish up. Then the Master called for us and we were dismissed.

I was given the grading form and was told that the next grading will be on the 5th April and I would be able to go for it if I attend both practices on Wednesday and Friday night and extra practices will be at the academy itself every night. Cool~!

Wasn't that great when I had to bare with the muscle pain all over my leg. Had to stick 'Salonplas' to make it feel better. But, hoping and praying that the pain will go off after attending more practices. Looking forward to the next practice!
